🇺🇸 Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said Monday that the Fed won't wait until inflation falls to 2% to start cutting interest rates.

"The implication of that is that if you wait for inflation to go down to 2%, you've probably waited too long, because the tightening you do, or the level of tightening you have, is still having effects which will likely drive inflation below 2%.

“We want to be more convinced that inflation is sustainably approaching our 2% target.”

"What builds that confidence is good inflation data. And lately we've had some of that."
