Here's what could happen next 👇

In 2022, the Fed raised interest rates to tackle high inflation, which made borrowing more expensive and led to falling asset prices, resulting in a bear market. However, with lower interest rates, many expect monetary easing that could gently guide the global economy into a "Soft Landing."

If inflation doesn’t spike again and rate cuts help keep unemployment stable, central bankers could achieve something incredible—removing major economic uncertainties and delivering a level of global economic stability we haven’t seen in decades!

Although the Fed's latest economic projections seem to favor more future rate cuts, they also reflect how uncertain things are, with inflation forecasts being lowered, flat GDP estimates, and non-trivial upticks in unemployment expectations.

The greatest economic risk has shifted from higher inflation to falling employment, as shown by the decision to cut rates. Even though Federal Reserve members and other central bankers are confident they can manage these risks with further rate cuts, any continued economic decline could rapidly devolve into serious recession concerns.

Global bond yields that had been increasing since Tuesday dropped only slightly after the rate cuts were confirmed, suggesting the market had already factored this in with earlier moves downwards since July. While Bitcoin briefly jumped about 2% right after the rate cut news, markets started selling off soon after, erasing those gains before the day ended.

While the initial excitement around the rate cuts was clear, investors are now carefully watching how the economy reacts to these changes, with hopes pinned on a smooth transition but wary of potential bumps ahead.

Whether this will truly ignite the next crypto bull market or trigger deeper recession concerns remains to be seen as the balancing act between inflation, employment, and growth continues to unfold.

Meta Will Use Public Data From Adults In The Uk For Artificial Intelligence Training

Meta will start using publicly shared content from adult users in the UK on Facebook and Instagram to train its artificial intelligence models. The company will assess publicly available information, such as posts, comments, photos, and descriptions, from users on both platforms.

Meta emphasized that its AI is designed to reflect diverse global communities and plans to expand its AI initiatives to more countries and languages later this year. The company clarified that it does not use data from accounts of individuals under 18 in the UK.

In July, Meta halted AI assistant deployments in the EU following an order from the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) due to data privacy concerns. Meta claims it uses Facebook and Instagram user data with their consent and offers an option to opt out.

UK-based adults on Facebook and Instagram will receive in-app notifications detailing Meta's data usage practices and offering an option to object to the use of their data for AI training. Meta stated that it will accept all existing and new objection forms.

The DPC, responsible for enforcing the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), is intensifying its oversight. On September 12, it launched a cross-border investigation into Google Ireland Limited to determine if it complies with EU data protection laws in developing its AI models.

The investigation will focus on the use of EU citizens' personal data in training Google’s advanced language model, Pathways Language Model 2 (PaLM2), introduced on May 10, 2023.

The DPC also investigated the social media platform X and concluded the investigation after X agreed to meet the necessary compliance standards. On September 4, X agreed to stop using personal data of EU and European Economic Area (EEA) users to train its AI chatbot, Grok.

My Macro take on crypto

#btc on the weekly doesnt look great. We closed lower than the 20 W EMA on the weekly which has consistently signaled the end of bear markets post halving (may 2021 being an exception). However, this is a weak argument imo and I think this cycle more closely resembles last cycle where we had the exception in May 2021 because there is more evidence that this cycle is not yet done.

Based on cyclical data, where btc is this cycle indicates 2025 to be a key year as the year after halving is usually the best year.

Image below shows historical dates of mid cycle top/bottoms, and cycle tops/bottoms with dates of halving as well. We were at the mid-cycle top earlier this spring - represented by the purple dot in Cycle 4. If historical data suggests any clues on market cycle top, Q4 2025 would be the date.

Furthermore, the average days from previous cycle tops to current cycle tops are 1268 days. A conservative estimate would be a top in Q2 2025, with the possibility of an extension into Q4 2025 if this cycle follows more closely to the last 2 cycles which had 1450 days between cycle tops. More data suggests Q4 2025 cycle top as the last 2 cycles took 1060 days from cycle bottom to cycle peak.

Some more data that confirms my biases:

- Average Number of days btc spent above 20 W EMA (last 2 cycles) = 802 days
- This cycle so far = 413 Days

- Number of days btc spent above 200 D MA (last 2 cycles) = 787 days
- This cycle so far = 462 Days.

To sum things up: the data suggests we still have about a year of bull market activity lined up. I'd say Q2 2025 cycle top is conservative given the macro environment. The Sahm Rule and other leading indicators of recession has me worried about the 2nd half of 2025. Economic data is almost always lagging and whether we are in a recession today or not, we will not know until 2 quarters from now. That being said, if Sahm Rule holds true and we enter recession in Q4, we won't know until at least Q2.
